Since my players are as busy with Real Life stuff as I am, I've found it pretty tough to get a consistent tabletop game going.
I'm looking into doing either a play-by-post or play-by-email game. Does anyone have experience running either post or email games, and which would you say is better/easier/more fun to run?

I've been trying to get ring time with pbp games; nothing lasts more than a dozen sessions, and it's been retro-clones mostly. I've tried posting in forums, emails, and a Yahoo group. Six of one half a dozen the other.
I'm game either way, my S&W group just folded.

The online Arcadomai game I plan to run is very much in it's infancy - only have 1 of the two player's characters at this point. We plan to start with an email chain for now, just wondering if there's any specific sites or utilities that work as well or better.

We ran an email chain for our first run at a D6 Cliffhangers game. It was like herding cats.
Everyone seems happy with Skype - whatever the hell that is, Cleireac set up a Proboard, Bloodymage has a forum at Goodreads. An OSRIC game was supposed to be set up at Mayhem Gaming. I liked the Yahoo group, it has a place upload files/pics/maps.

I ran a game using Risus in a play by email format with just one player. Had a pretty good time doing it but it ended up taking so much time because it sort of became like writing a novel with just the one player. Ran for maybe two months and I posted recaps over on my blog back in Jan. All in all it was ok, just not satisfactory to remove that gaming itch.

I have a love/hate relationship with Play By Post. For me, I much prefer Play By Chat for the sense of progress and immediacy of the feedback. But Play by post is better than nothing and I have have had some experience with really good play by post games.
I like using Play Py Post, rather than Play By Email. Easier to manage and organize.

Good advice and information so far - I've done the Play-by-chat, and that works really well for 1 on 1 gaming. May give it an attempt with a couple more here and see how that goes.

I am currently running a just began sci-fi risus game using Mumble and MapTool and playing/Co-GMing a OSH game using the same. Works great for both.

I've usually organized games via iChat, Skype, or even Google Chat. years ago, we had great fun using ScreenMonkey. I've also used Corkboard.me recently for Microscope and it would probably work well for other games.
Once my schedule clears, I'd be up for doing a new game. But I cannot commit to anything just yet...
