(Cross Posted to the Risus Talk Mailing List)
One of my many hobbies and interests is building with Lego. The online Lego community has a common method of inspiring others to build which is simply known as a Challenge. The nature of any given Challenge can be radically different from any other, but the overarching goal is the same…to get you to build something when you lack inspiration or to get you working in an area outside of your comfort zone. To push your limits as it were.
I propose something similar for the online Risus Community: *The One-Page Adventure Challenge*. Under this challenge, you have 2 weeks (Until July 21st) to create an adventure for Risus that fits on one page: maps, encounters, stats, everything necessary included on that one-page. It can be sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comedy, whatever…but here’s the real challenge: EVERYONE’S adventure must somehow prominently utilize the following three words (taken from random rolls on Tim Ballew’s Wilderwords) into the adventure concept: Abandoned, Howling, and Obelisk.
Those words will lend themselves naturally to a fantasy adventure no doubt, but let’s see what as a community we can be inspired to produce.
Who is up for it?
I certainly will be doing so. Join me, won’t you?
-Brent

This sounds totally awesome...I would really love to play too, I'm just not sure I have the time to do this. Well, I'll make an attempt at least!

I've never written an adventure for use by other people before, but I figure I'll give it a shot. All part of the "outside your comfort zone" thing. I've also never played around with typography on Linux. It'll be a learning experience.

Ok, just uploaded Kingfisher Down! to the Risusiverse page, also posted it on my blog with a little information on how I came upon the idea. Based on actual events! (Well, not really, but sounds good.) Kingfisher Down!

My "Karst Chantry" is up on the Risusiverse. Sorry about small font size. If I get a moment, I'll tweak the layout a bit.

Risusiverse apparently doesn't want my 27.2 KB .pdf, so I've uploaded it via Dropbox, right here. This was mainly an experiment for me to learn LaTeX, and at the very least I can say my document is readable and well-structured even if I couldn't figure out how to get my editor to load a handwritten font.
