Was just reading Manu Saxena's "Collaborative Cthulhu Risus" and I am really interested in his rolling method variant. It seems very very interesting. Thought I would post it up here to discuss. What do you think of this method?
Roll a number of dice equal to the value of the cliché most applicable to the action you're trying to do. The value of the roll equals the highest die rolled, plus any multiples of the high die if present. Ex. 6,5,5 = 6; 4,4,1 = 8; 5,4,4,2 = 5.

This is a very interesting system of rolling... It would really shake up combat, mitigate the Highest Cliche at the Beginning of Combat Wins issue while still giving a distinct bonus to rolling a lot of dice.
I'll have to try it out proper before I can really give a full opinion of it, but I'm quite interested so far.

I wonder if this might be interesting:
Roll a number of dice equal to the value of the cliché most applicable to the action you're trying to do. The value of the roll equals the highest die rolled, plus a +1 for any multiples of the high die if present. Ex. 6,5,5 = 6; 4,4,1 = 5; 5,5,4,2 = 6.
So essentially whatever your high die is, then any additional multiple offers an additional +1 per multiple. So someone truly skilled still has the possibility of kicking ass on someone less qualified, but it still even the battlefield somewhat...if that is the sort of thing you are aiming for as a GM.
