Green Lantern is as advertised. My Friend John saw a preview "mind blowing CGI - mind numbing story." Avoiding GL but X-Men First Class was a first class movie. best superhero film in a couple of years (and certainly the best X-Men movie ever made).

I've always been a DC man, myself, but the problem is that DC is owned by Time/Warner and being part of a studio system that has no emotional connection to the material...T/W can make some seriously hideous decisions with the intellectual property it owns*, whereas Marvel Studios, for better or worse makes movies as they want them to be.
Watching a Marvel movie...this is the movie they wanted to make. Watching a DC movie...this is the movie they were told to make.
* Great Non-Fiction Book: Tales From Development Hell by David Hughes. In it, it outlines how the studio was greenlighting a Batman movie in which Bruce Wayne was a homeless schmuck with a grudge. Alfred was a fat, black, car mechanic, and the garage doubled as the "bat cave" while a souped up Caddy was the batmobile. The entire DC staff apparently threatened to walk if that movie got made, so it was eventually canned...but that's the kind of thing that can happen under with a DC film, and the kind of silliness that won't happen with a Marvel film.
